Loktak Lake

Loktak Lake is known for its phumdis — floating masses of vegetation, soil and organic matter — the largest of which forms Keibul Lamjao, the only floating national park in the world and last natural refuge of the endangered sangai deer. Fishing communities live on floating huts scattered across the lake.
