Mizoram landscape

Mizoram

Layered blue hills, bamboo forests and one of India's most literate and orderly states.

Mizoram's name translates to 'land of the hill people', an apt description of a state built almost entirely across steep, forested ridgelines. Aizawl, perched along a mountain spine, is one of the highest state capitals in India, and the state's Mizo culture is expressed through vivid textiles, bamboo dances and a strong choral music tradition.
