Meghalaya

Meghalaya, the 'abode of clouds', is defined by karst plateaus, some of the highest rainfall totals on the planet, and the Khasi and Jaintia tradition of growing living root bridges from the roots of rubber fig trees. Shillong and the Cherrapunji-Mawsynram belt anchor a region dense with waterfalls, caves and sacred forests.
